The Laynor Foundation Museum

Albert Stewart

Albert Stewart is an artist living and working in Tempe, Arizona. He studied at the University of Texas at Austin, Pratt Institute, and the University of Washington. For the past thirty years, he has worked as an artist, teacher and curator. His work has been recognised nationally and internationally. He has also organized numerous exhibitions. Stewart has received many awards, including an artist fellowship for the State of Honda and the National Endowment for the Arts. His work is represented at the Margarete Roeder Gallery in New York and Cologne. In addition to his teaching at ASU, he maintains an active lecturing schedule.

Change is central to my work. The work evolves from an inquiry into change, establishes a symbolic order and presents a sense of place.
